We have lots of bright ideas to help employers & candidates get the most out of the recruitment process.

This is where we share them.

So you’ve got an interview?

There are hundreds of ways of finding bog standard interview questions ranging from "strengths and weaknesses" to the hobby you should have probably taken off your CV a few years ago. Our belief is that these are fairly easy questions to prepare for and answer so "google" them, read them, and let them sit in the back of your mind. The real preparation for an interview should come from finding out about the role and the company and more importantly what they’re looking for. Your recruiter should be helping you with a lot of this information.

When the day comes around you may find it helpful to actually imagine that you have already been given the job and that this meeting is simply a de-brief before you start in a months time. This approach can have a real focussing effect and help you to ask the pertinent and indicative questions that show an interviewer you are really thinking about their needs – ask them what they are looking for and what problems you will face and the conversation should flow from there.

One final tip which has been known to turn an interview around is at the end of the interview when asked if you have any questions ask whether they have any reservations about you? It’s a gutsy play but a fair question and as well as coming across as someone who will stand up for themselves it will also give you a second bite of the cherry if there is anything they are unsure about.
